Both men put on an enthralling show on Saturday night, with the Ukrainian winning to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world

Tyson Fury is set to part with £1million of his money in the wake of his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.

The Gypsy King lasted the distance in Saudi Arabia but it wasn't enough, with Usyk winning via split decision to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Fury can be consoled by the fact he's set to take 70 per cent of the purse for the fight, even if his unbeaten record was ruthlessly ended.

There was a total prize money of £116m on offer, with Fury set to take roughly £78m of that.

Yet Fury, it seems, is now set to part with £1m of his cash in the wake of his defeat.

According to the Independent, there was a clause in the deal that meant, in order for Usyk to accept a smaller fee, Fury would need to donate £1m to Ukraine amid the ongoing war in the country.

Fury told Usyk he was prepared to visit the nation in the immediate aftermath of their enthralling clash.

But he did raise eyebrows by appearing to suggest his opponent only won due to the sympathy for Ukraine.

Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, has set the record straight, however.

He insists Fury's comments were down to his bipolar, while also revealing he's 'angry' at some of the things he's seen about the speech.

“I get quite angry. I’ve just got back and I’m reading some of the reports," he told talkSPORT.

"Tyson is bipolar. If you go on the NHS site and look at what the symptoms are of bipolar, some of the things is saying exactly what is on your mind.

“If it’s in your mind, you say it. That is one of the symptoms, unfortunately.”

Warren then pointed out the way Fury was gracious in defeat, with the Briton embracing Usyk in the ring.

“Tyson, you look at him immediately after that fight, he kisses [Usyk] at least three times on the forehead and on the cheek.

“With Tyson, he’s said in the past, ‘I’ve retired’. And a couple of months later, ‘I’m fighting again’.

"That’s unfortunately one of the things that happens with people who suffer from a dreadful illness.

“It was called manic depression years ago, now it’s called bipolar.

"It’s all well documented the problems he’s had down the years. Tyson is a warrior."

It is currently unclear when Fury will fight next.

Warren says a rematch with Usyk is likely to take place, saying: "There was a rematch clause.

"That was the condition that was required by the people who were investing in it and that is what is there. If Tyson wants it – and he’s said that he does want it – then it will go ahead."

Yet some figures in the sport thinks Fury returning to the ring once again isn't guaranteed.

The Briton has today been spotted with his family making a trip to the dump.

While he's likely disappointed by his defeat, however, the huge prize money he's pocketed is likely to be a nice consolation.
