The 35-year-old is set to return to the ring in May

Tyson Fury's cutman Jorge Capetillo has admitted there's a 'possibility' the Gypsy King's eye cut could reopen when he faces Oleksandr Usyk next month.

However, he's moved to allay fears by saying the Briton is 'positive' ahead of the huge showdown in Saudi Arabia.

Fury and Usyk had been due to meet in February, only for the 35-year-old's eye injury to scupper those plans.

They will now fight on May 18, with millions expected to tune in to watch the action unfold.

And Capetillo, speaking to Betway, has admitted there's a 'possibility' the cut will reopen.

However, he says Fury is in good spirits and 'excited' to face Usyk in the Middle East in just six weeks' time.

He said: "We spoke a week ago and Tyson is in good spirits, is positive, and as always, has a great attitude.

"I think he’s going to be in the best shape of his life.

"He was in training camp looking incredible before unfortunately getting cut but he has a strong mind and is ready to go on May 18 for sure.

"The cut is healing very well, and he is very excited about this fight to become the undisputed champion of the world."

He added: "There’s always a possibility that it [the cut reopening] could happen, but Tyson has to do what he is good at with his distance and reach, not trying to knock him out in one punch but setting him up with big punches by using faints, his footwork and IQ in the ring.

"It is a matter of having good timing, reach and Tyson's footwork being at his best for the fight.

"For a heal, like 90 days but it’s been 60 days or more since the cut so I am sure with the right treatment, he should be ready for May 18 and soon he can start with some light sparring, nothing hard but to get the reach and distance right.

"It is more important than power punches with reach and timing. He’ll probably be ready for sparring in the next couple of weeks.

"Tyson has to treat the cut well before the fight and do sparring sessions with the right head guard and start with nothing crazy to make sure he doesn’t get hit hard so it doesn’t re-open but I’m going to put emphasis on this, he needs his reach and timing right and if they are on point, it is game over for Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson will be on top."

Fury's showdown with Usyk has the makings of a classic.

It will be the first heavyweight fight since the days of Lennox Lewis, which only adds to the intrigue.

Fury will need to be at his best, especially given his poor performance against Francis Ngannou last time out.

Derek Chisora thinks Fury is capable of beating Usyk.

And he thinks his bond with his father, John, can benefit the fighter on May 18.

He told Seconds Out: "Tyson looks good. I see his dad holding his pads for him.

"What people don't understand is a father and a son's bond when they train together is unbelievable. That's what people have to understand.

"If Tyson has his dad in his corner, he’ll walk over Usyk easily because he has his dad in his corner.

"That’s it, bro. It’s going to be a great fight."

Asked if his dad should be Fury's main trainer, Chisora replied: "He should be. He should be. His dad knows fighting.

"He grew up his whole life watching fights and fighting himself. So I think his dad should be his main trainer.

"At the same time his son will help. The way he's looking on the pads with his dad, he looks great."
