Boxing fans are desperate to see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet in the ring

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have been compared to 'Batman and Robin' as talk of an all-British boxing clash continues to gather momentum.

Throughout their boxing careers, Fury and Joshua have avoided each other when it comes to meeting in the ring.

That is despite plenty of talk from both sides that they are desperate to finally touch gloves but a myriad of excuses have been used by either camp over why they have not put their money where their mouths are.

Both Britons will fight before the end of the year with AJ facing Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title on September 21.

Meanwhile, Fury will try to wrestle back his WBO, WBA and WBC belts when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk in December in a rematch.

But news of a clash between Fury and Joshua finally happening is becoming more of a reality with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh insisting he will stump up the cash.

And Todd DuBoef, president of Fury's US promoters Top Rank, has now revealed that a decision could be made very soon.

"I always felt that AJ and Tyson would fight at some point.

"At some point. Win, lose or whatever," he told Sky Sports.

"It's like Batman and Robin. They go together. I just feel like at some point they're going to fight regardless of what their body of work is, regardless of how they come out of fights.

"I think they both have great fanbases, they both come from a wonderful country with history.

"We've had this wonderful heavyweight renaissance, the UK being the epicentre of it, so I've always felt like they'll fight at some point.

"Fans would have loved to have seen the two boxers meet in their primes with Fury now 36 and Joshua 34.

Certainly not over the hill in terms of heavyweight boxing but, with both losing to Usyk in recent times, the gloss might have slightly come off a potential match-up.

However, such rivalries often take plenty of time to put together and DuBoef insisted that other top fights eventually were made such as Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao.

"Mayweather-Pacquiao eventually happened," he added.

"There were rivalries for 10 years and eventually they happened. I just think it makes sense at one point.
