The heavyweight has taken to social media to react to Saturday night's showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Anthony Joshua expressed patriotic sentiments after watching Chris Eubank Jr beat Conor Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr secured victory in north London with all three of the judges scoring the bout in his favour.


And Joshua was left blown away by what he witnessed, with the heavyweight star writing on X:"Watching this fight makes me proud to be British."

Other combat sports figures shared their enthusiasm for the contest.

UFC star Dustin Poirier called it "a dog fight", while Jake Paul ranked it among his top three favourite fights since beginning his boxing career.

Oscar De La Hoya declared: "Beautiful fight! Both winners!"

Five-weight world champion Claressa Shields admitted to getting emotional, saying: "I don't know why my eyes are watery but what a fight. How special."

The 12-round contest saw both fighters give their absolute all in front of a packed north London crowd.

Eubank Jr emerged victorious via unanimous decision, celebrating with his father, Chris Eubank Sr, after the result was announced.

The victory carried extra significance as it came 35 years after Eubank Sr defeated Benn's father, Nigel, in Birmingham.

Eubank Jr was rushed to hospital immediately following his victory in the ring. He is expected to remain there until Monday for observation - though rumours of a broken jaw have been denied.

The main event wasn't the only action on the packed card at Tottenham.

Anthony Yarde secured victory in his trilogy fight against Lyndon Arthur, while Irish boxer Aaron McKenna defeated Liam Smith in another contest.

Viddal Riley emerged victorious in a north London derby against Cheavon Clarke and Chris Billam-Smith rounded out the card with a win over Brandon Glanton.

The evening delivered multiple compelling bouts, though none matched the intensity of the headline clash.

Eubank Sr offered praise for Benn despite his son's victory.

"The credit I am going to give to Conor - I told you he was a superior fighter, but he shouldn't be fighting at 160lbs," he told talkSPORT.

He criticised Benn's management, saying: "He has been destroyed by the people who are handling him."

"They need to be held to account. Do your job, do your job, do your job!"

Nigel Benn, meanwhile, remained positive despite his son's defeat.

"I thought he done really well. He'll learn a lot from this, he'll come back stronger," he said.

"We can handle defeat gracefully. Now we go back to the drawing board."

Boxing fans can look forward to a rematch between Eubank Jr and Benn, with the duo expected to face off again in October 2025.

This second bout will reportedly take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the same venue that hosted their first encounter, with the rematch pre-arranged as part of the original fight agreement.
