The Gypsy King is due to step into the ring again in February next year

Carl Froch has ordered Tyson Fury not to retire in the wake of his controversial victory over Francis Ngannou.

The Brit is currently in the spotlight with a new date for his exciting showdown Oleksandr Usyk expected to be announced.

Fury and Usyk had been due to go up against each other in Saudi Arabia on December 23.

With the Gypsy King needing more time to recover from his win over Ngannou, however, they're now expected to settle their differences in February instead.

And Froch says it's for the best that Fury doesn't retire now, insisting it would be a huge mistake for the Brit to quit after such a poor performance.

“I don’t think that’s an option for him," he said on his YouTube channel.

"Don’t get me wrong, if he’s gonna dwell on that loss – sorry, win – so much then retire, you can sort of see where his mental fragility is coming into play, but I sincerely hope that he’s right in the head.

"He seems all right, matter-of-fact, onto the next fight.

“But he can’t retire off the back of that fight with Ngannou. He just can’t.

"It would be like me retiring on the back of the first George Groves fight.

"Although I still think [referee] Howard Foster did the correct thing when he stopped the right … the way it had been received, it felt like a loss.”

He added: “So Tyson Fury will not retire on that back of that.

"He’s got to fight Ngannou in a rematch I think.

"And I think that has to happen before the Oleksandr Usyk fight … It’s all a bit messy and a bit sticky.”

Fortunately for Froch and other boxing fans, Fury has no plans to retire.

His manager, Spencer Brown, has confirmed the Gypsy King won't be quitting any time soon.

And Fury is now solely focused on a bout with Usyk in a showdown that will excite the boxing community.

The Ukrainian's promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, wasn't impressed with the 35-year-old's display during his win over Ngannou.

And he's expressed concerns that Usyk will be fighting a Fury that pales in comparison to the one of years gone by.

"It was definitely not his best performance," he told the Daily Mail.

"Not even close to his to his [best] performance.

"I've never seen him like that and I hope I will never see him like that.

"Listen, he won the fight. There is no doubt about it. But the way he did it did not look good.

"[Usyk] was sweating all the fight because there was a chance for Tyson to lose.

"Can you imagine? If he loses, who will watch this fight?

"You know, Usyk is such a great professional that he knew all the weaknesses that Tyson Fury has.

"Did it bring any extra confidence? No, Usyk has always been confident in what he does."
