Zara Tindall's presence is currently hanging in the balance after her husband, Mike Tindall, announced an upcoming trip to Australia.

The royal couple, who tied the knot in 2011, are open about their love for the Oceania country, having met each other at a bar in Sydney in 2003.

Mike, 46, took to Instagram on Monday to announce he will be travelling to Melbourne for the 2nd Test of the Lions Tour in July to watch the Lions take on the Wallabies.

The former English Rugby Union player hosts a rugby podcast titled "The Good, The Bad & The Rugby" alongside James Haskell and Alex Payne.

The trio announced on social media earlier today: "WIN THE ULTIMATE LIONS EXPERIENCE!

"Together with Visit Victoria, we’re giving away a TRIP TO MELBOURNE for the 2nd Test as the Lions take on the Wallabies – plus a VIP meet & greet with the GBR hosts!"

The match between the Lions and the Wallabies will take place on July 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), known locally as the 'G, located in Yarra Park, Melbourne.

It is not yet known if Zara, 44, will join her husband, or their three children, Mia, 11, Lena, six, and Lucas, four.

Zara and Mike have a long-standing love for Australia, dating back to their first meeting in Sydney in 2003.

They frequently visit, often attending the Magic Millions Polo and Show Jumping event on the Gold Coast.

Speculation has been rife that they might move permanently to Australia, particularly after visits and comments about how "home from home" it feels.

However, Mike has stated that it's "not on the cards" and that they are not actively looking to relocate, citing the distance and family life.

While not imminent, Zara has suggested that a future move is not impossible, perhaps after her competitive equestrian career is over.

Speaking to Australian Women's Weekly in 2019, Zara said: "Probably not while I'm still competing.

"It would be a little bit hard commuting. But after that … yes, I think if an opportunity came up we'd definitely think about it."

As of 2025, Zara admitted her equestrian career has become more "part-time" due to parenting her three young children.
