The Duchess of York is "fiercely loyal" to her ex-husband Prince Andrew

The Duchess of York is "refusing to sell out her family" amid reports she could encourage Prince Andrew, whom she still lives with, to move out of his home at Royal Lodge.

Prince Andrew currently lives in the sprawling £30 million property but King Charles wants his brother to downsize and move into the much smaller Frogmore Cottage, which requires less expensive upkeep.

The Duke is determined to stay at his current royal residence with sources claiming he is willing to maintain the £30 million property at “any cost”.

Prince Andrew receives handouts from his brother to live in and maintain the property, as well as fund his security detail, which began in 2019 after the Home Office stopped assigning police to protect the Duke of York once he stepped down from official duties.

Speaking about the brother's feud to the Daily Beast, a source close to Fergie said: "Sarah has never sought to rock the boat.

"She has said very publicly that she is grateful to have been brought back into the family by the late Queen and she is of course very grateful that has carried on under Charles.

"That’s a different thing to selling out her family,” the friend said, “She is fiercely loyal to Andrew.”

Friends of the Duke of York have also spoken out in support of him, with one telling the outlet: "Andrew does not have a huge amount in his life any more, the house is one of the few things keeping him going.

"The idea that he is going to throw that away along with his children’s inheritance is just absurd.

“The place is perfectly well maintained and the notion that Andrew is in dire financial straits is not remotely accurate.

"He still has the support of plenty of friends and has plenty of business interests.”

The pushback from Andrew's friends comes days after an extensive report in The Times that said the King would "reconsider the levels of support he is willing to provide" unless Andrew moved out.

One source told the publication: "The King’s kindness is not without limit, and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage...which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon hence reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge."
