Royal Family members 'appalled' by King Charles's treatment of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry over Frogmore

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were given use of the five-bedroom Frogmore Cottage by the Queen as a wedding present in 2018.

But Meghan and Harry have barely lived in the royal residence over the last three years.

Omid Scobie, the biographer of the book on Meghan and Harry titled Finding Freedom, stated the two members of the monarchy are "appalled" by the King's decision.

On the Sussexes' reaction, Scobie wrote for Yahoo: "It's news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family 'appalled'."

It comes as a royal insider told The Sun: "This eviction surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK.

"Andrew is resisting the idea of moving into Frogmore Cottage after he was offered it last week.

"But it shows Harry and Meghan are powerless to stop the eviction."

The Sussexes ordered £2.4million worth of renovations to the cottage before moving into the home they were gifted by Queen Elizabeth II.

However, they spent less than a year in Frogmore before deciding to step down as working members of the Royal Family.

Meghan and Harry left the UK, first moving to Canada and then California.

Prince Harry did stay in Frogmore Cottage in 2021 when he flew back to the UK for Prince Philip's funeral.

Princess Eugenie lived in Frogmore Cottage after Meghan and Harry moved to the US. However, Prince Andrew's youngest daughter now lives in Portugal.

Prince Harry later paid back the cost of the renovations to the UK taxpayer in a deal which included leasing Frogmore Cottage for “several years”.

King Charles is looking to cut costs for the Royal Family and this looks to be his latest bid to tighten the purse strings.
