Princess Sofia of Sweden has withdrawn from the upcoming National Day celebrations just days before they are due to start, despite being originally confirmed to attend the event.
The princess was listed among the royals due to be present in a guest list published last month, alongside Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O'Neill and her husband Prince Carl Philip.
However, Sofia has now been dropped from the celebrations, being held on June 6, with Sweden’s Royal Court confirming that the royal would be absent from the service.
No explanation for Sofia's absence has yet been given.

The news will come as a blow to Swedish royal fans who would have like to see the Princess after she recently gave birth to her first daughter earlier this year.
In February, Sofia and her husband Carl Phillip welcomed their fourth child, Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia, on February 7.
Sofia has previously missed events after welcoming Ines, notably skipping a State Banquet which was held during Iceland's state visit to the country last month.
Parents in Sweden are legally entitled to a total of 480 days of paid parental leave when a child is born or adopted.

Princess Sofia was briefly seen, cradling the tiny new princess, on the Stockholm Palace balcony to celebrate King Carl Gustaf's 79th birthday in April.
Despite her absence from the main National Day celebrations, the mother-of-four might still make some of the following events.
Back in 2016, Sofia welcomed her first child, Prince Alexander, a month before National Day and attended the opening of parliament, which usually happens the day after National Day.
Upon the birth on Ines, the Swedish palace said: “The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is pleased to announce that HRH Princess Sofia, on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:10 p.m., gave birth to a healthy and prosperous daughter at Danderyd Hospital.”

Sofia and Carl Phillip already share three boys: Prince Alexander, 8, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 3.
Princess Ines is eighth in line to the throne and has been named Duchess of Västerbotten but she does not hold an HRH style.
This is in line with the decision made by King Carl XVI Gustaf in 2019 for the children of Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine.
She is now the ninth grandchild for King Carl and his wife, Queen Silvia.
Future queen Crown Princess Victoria shares two children with her husband, Prince Daniel: Princess Estelle, 12, and Prince Oscar, eight.

Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O'Neill, have three kids: Princess Leonore, 10, Prince Nicolas, nine, and Princess Adrienne, six.
One might therefore forgive King Carl for his gaffe while officially announcing his new granddaughters name upon her birth.
Speaking to gathered officials at the palace, the Swedish king accidentally said the newborn’s name was Inse and not Ines.
Royal fans were left further confused when the palace later released a statement using the baby's correct name: Ines Marie Lilian Silvia.
The King later apologised for the humorous error.
