The Dutch Royal Family will be depicted in a brand new TV series, very similar to the popular Netflix show The Crown.

The Crown, which focuses on Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the British Royal Family, is coming to an end later this year, but this new drama about King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will likely fill the gap for eager royal fans.

The King and Queen of the Netherlands' love story is being turned into a six-part series.

New images of the production have just been released, as well as a teaser trailer.

Titled Maxima Zorreguieta: Motherland, and produced by the Dutch company Mill Street Films, the TV show will cover Queen Maxima's upbringing in Argentina.

It will also explore how a chance meeting with King Willem-Alexander led to her becoming Queen.

Filming for the series took place in New York.

The teaser trailer showed Maxima, played by Delfina Chaves, chatting to then-Prince Willem-Alexander.

The future Queen could be seen preparing to announce her engagement to the world in 2001.

The duo first met in April 1999, while Maxima was on holiday in Seville.

Then-Prince Willem-Alexander initially hid his royal status from Maxima, and when she finally out out, she thought it was a joke.

Chaves, 27, is already a mega star in Maxima's home country - having appeared in hit shows such as Love After Loving.

Maxima was a controversial choice of bride, as her father served as the Minister of Agriculture under General Jorge Rafael Videla.

His involvement in the dictatorship meant he was unable to attend the future Queen's wedding in 2002.

Maxima spent her childhood in Buenos Aires with two brothers, one sister and three half-sisters.

Willem-Alexander and Maxima share three daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia, 19, Princess Alexia, 18, and Princess Ariane, 16.
