Kensington Palace and Wimbledon have refused to confirm whether the Princess of Wales will present the singles trophies this weekend

Senior members of the Royal Family have been nowhere to be seen at Wimbledon over the last nine days as Kensington Palace remain quiet on Princess Kate presenting the winning trophy.

The Wimbledon tournament usually attracts senior members of the Royal Family, including the Princess of Wales - who is patron of the All England Club.

Prince William has also been spotted at Wimbledon over recent years but has been missing from this year's tennis competition so far.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were seen in the royal box on day nine of the tennis championship but the Princess of York is not considered a working royal.

While the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Michael of Kent represented the Royal Family on day eight.

Similarly to Kate, the Duchess is an avid Tennis fan and is being considered as a replacement for the Princess of Wales to present the winner's trophies this weekend.

The Princess Michael of Kent was pictured smiling in the royal box on Monday.

Despite, Kate's absence, her parents Carole and Michael Middleton attended Wimbledon last Thursday.

Other celebrities seen in the royal box include David Beckham, Mary Berry, Lenny Henry and Theresa May.

The Princess took over from Queen Elizabeth II as patron of the All England Club in 2016.

Kensington Palace have not issued any information regarding Kate's attendance at the tennis final.

It is hoped that Kate will be well enough to make an appearance, but with her ongoing cancer treatment, it remains unclear.

The Princess of Wales has only attended one royal engagement, Trooping the Colour, so far this year.

Kensington Palace has not confirmed any events in which Kate will attend for the foreseeable future.

A decision on whether the royal will attend Wimbledon is expected to be made on Saturday morning - when the women's final takes place.

All England Club Chair Debbie Jevans said their team at Wimbledon remain "flexible" with the plans.

She previously said: "We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority."

A Wimbledon spokesman said that a decision had not been made yet.
