The US leader will not take part in any public facing engagements during his trip

Police have confirmed that security arrangements in Windsor have been “reviewed” ahead of US President Donald Trump's State Visit, with the US leader set to arrive in the UK later on Tuesday evening.

The revaluation of the already “very high threat level” expected for the two visit was made following the fatal shooting of right wing activist Charlie Kirk in Utah last week.

When asked if the incident had altered their approach, Thames Valley Police's Assistant Chief Constable Christian Bunt said on Monday that security protocols had indeed been refreshed in coordination with US Secret Service officials.

“Naturally, we just reviewed everything with our Secret Service colleagues in the US to make sure everyone was content with where we are, and that is the case,” he said.

“We do understand that things happen elsewhere in the world, and the wider context that we’re operating in, that can impact our security operations,” Mr Bunt added.

“The provision put in place was already supporting a very high threat level.

The officer assured his confidence in the operation that was in place ahead of the arrival of the US delegation.

“I’m very content that we have planned a very comprehensive policing and security operation that has taken into consideration just about every eventuality of what could happen,” he continued, The Telegraph reported.

Mr Bunt declined to reveal how many officers would be deployed as part of the operation, which will feature extensive contributions from other forces.

Thames Valley Police have established temporary flight restrictions over Windsor and Chequers, prohibiting drones and small aircraft from entering designated zones.

Maritime security teams will conduct river patrols along the Thames, with officers searching waterways and banks surrounding Windsor.

Ground forces equipped with an array of tactical gear will maintain a visible presence, including armed response units prepared for rapid deployment.

These specialist officers will carry tasers, firearms equipped with rubber bullets and shotguns intended to combat dangerous animal encounters.

Mounted police, canine teams, and drone operators will also supplement more traditional patrols across Windsor's streets.

Imposing barriers have also now been installed around the Windsor Castle.

Authorities are also tracking social media platforms to identify potential misinformation campaigns and gauge public sentiment during the presidential visit.

The Stop Trump Coalition has organised a demonstration on Windsor High Street for Tuesday evening, while larger crowds are anticipated at Wednesday's central London rally.

President Trump's State Visit will begin in full on Wednesday morning, where he and First Lady Melania Trump will be met by Prince William and Princess Kate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will then escort the presidential couple to meet King and Queen to begin a ceremonial carriage procession through the castle grounds.

Several high-ranking US officials will also be present at the State Visit, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Robert Lutnick, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff.
