Prince Joachim attended his brother Frederik's accession ceremony in January 2024 when Queen Margrethe abdicated after 52 years.
Queen Margrethe caused controversy in 2022 when she stripped Joachim's four children of their royal titles.
She later apologised publicly, stating: "I have underestimated the extent to which much my younger son and his family feel affected. That makes a big impression, and for that I am sorry."
Since January 2023, Joachim's children have been styled as Counts and Countess of Monpezat, describing the decision as "a necessary future-proofing of the monarchy".
