The Mass marked Pope Leo XIV’s official installation

Queen Letizia's choices at Pope Leo's inaugural Mass carried "symbolic weight", a jewellery expert exclusively told GB News.

Tobias Kormind, the managing director and co-founder of 77 Diamonds, Europe's largest diamond jeweller, spoke exclusively to GB News about the European Royal Family outfits and what they symbolised.

He said: “Accessories were kept minimal for this momentous occasion, with the royals opting for understated pearl adornments.

“Queen Letizia of Spain wore elegant diamond and pearl earrings, a pair similar to those she chose for Pope Francis's funeral in April 2025, highlighting the symbolic weight of her jewellery choices for significant Vatican ceremonies.

“Pearls, long associated with purity, wisdom, and spiritual transformation, carry deep cultural and religious significance making them the perfect accessory for such a historic moment."

Letizia paired her jewellery with a simple tea-length dress in white crepe from Spanish designer, Redondo Brand.

The dress featured long sleeves and asymmetrical draped detail at the neckline, offering a modern silhouette that remained respectful of Vatican tradition.

As the Queen of Spain and one of the few royal women granted the privilège du blanc, Letizia was entitled to wear white in the presence of the Pope.

The tradition, reserved for Catholic Queens and Princesses from certain royal houses, allowed her to stand apart from the many women in black veils and dresses that filled the pews.

Her look was polished yet subtle, reflecting both her personal style and the solemnity of the event.

Known for her careful attention to detail and preference for Spanish labels, Letizia’s choice of designer underscored her ongoing support for national talent on the world stage.

The Mass marked Pope Leo XIV’s official installation and drew dignitaries and religious leaders from across the globe.

Letizia’s understated ensemble demonstrated how fashion can be used to navigate both protocol and personal expression.

While other royal attendees such as Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Princess Charlene of Monaco also wore white, Letizia’s ensemble stood out for its sculptural simplicity and meaningful accessories.

In a setting steeped in tradition and symbolism, every sartorial element carried weight—and Letizia’s look offered a masterclass in balancing reverence, elegance, and cultural identity.
