Queen Camilla is set to wear an "iconic" jewel to send a powerful message during her Canada visit, an expert has claimed.

The Queen is expected to pay tribute to Canada through her jewellery choices during her upcoming royal trip with King Charles, beginning May 26.

Jewellery experts anticipate the Queen may select symbolic pieces to reinforce Canada's place within the Commonwealth, especially while US President Donald Trump has repeatedly called for the country to become the 51st state of the United States of America.

James Harris, Regional Sales Manager at Austen & Blake, told GB News: "We wouldn't be surprised if Queen Camilla pays tribute to Canada with her choice of jewellery.

"There are a number of iconic brooches in the late Queen Elizabeth II's collection that we may see being worn by Queen Camilla."

The maple leaf, as Canada's national symbol, is likely to feature prominently in her accessories during the brief royal visit, reflecting diplomatic thoughtfulness through these meaningful adornments.

Harris explained that the maple leaf's significance as a national symbol, prominently featured in Canada's flag, makes it a likely emblem in Queen Camilla's jewellery selections.

"If Queen Camilla chooses to wear a piece from the extensive collection of the late Queen, it could be seen as a wonderful symbol of carrying on Queen Elizabeth's deep commitment and dedication to the Commonwealth, which was well documented in her lifetime," Harris noted.

He added that such a gesture would have personal significance beyond diplomacy: "Wearing a piece of jewellery as remembrance is a meaningful way to keep loved ones close and honour their memory."

The expert's comments suggest Camilla's accessories will serve dual purposes, honouring Canada while also paying tribute to the late Queen's legacy of service to Commonwealth nations.

The Diamond Maple-Leaf Brooch stands out as a particularly significant piece that Queen Camilla might choose for the Canadian visit.

Harris detailed its rich royal history: "This stunning piece was made by Asprey & Co. in the late 1930s. King George VI gifted the Queen Mother the brooch before their royal visit to Canada in 1939."

Queen Elizabeth II

The brooch has maintained its connection to Canadian royal tours throughout the generations. Harris noted: "The piece was also worn by Her Majesty (then Princess Elizabeth) on her first visit to Canada in 1951."

Queen Camilla herself has already established a personal connection with this historic jewel. "Queen Camilla has worn the brooch herself during her first official visit in November 2009, and it features in her official portrait for Canada," Harris explained.

This continuity of tradition would elegantly link three generations of royal women's service to the Commonwealth.

Beyond the Diamond Maple-Leaf Brooch, several other Canadian-themed pieces from the late Queen's collection could be selected for the royal visit.

"Queen Camilla could wear the late Queen's snowflake brooch. This beautifully ornate and intricate jewellery piece is set with rare blue Canadian beluga sapphires and diamonds.

It was a gift from the people of Canada for the late Queen's Sapphire Jubilee," Harris suggested. Another possibility is "a colourful enamel Maple leaf brooch, set with diamonds and pearls, that the late Queen wore on her tour of Canada in June 2010."

The collection also includes a modern floral design that Queen Elizabeth received in 2013.

Harris described it as featuring "diamonds and tourmalines, with a freshwater pearl at its centre. Made by Rachel Mielke of Hillberg & Berk, this piece is said to have been a gift from the people of Saskatchewan."
