The late Queen Elizabeth II established the modern equestrian tradition among the Royal Family, remaining a huge racing fan throughout her 70-year reign.

The tradition continued through her daughter, Princess Anne, and granddaughter, Zara – who both share a passion for horses.

Even King Charles, as Prince of Wales, spent time competing in the saddle.

However, he was famously bested in a race in 1980 - which Queen Camilla "never forgave" his one time rival for.
