Eugenie's birthday came the day after Princess Kate, 42, announced to the world that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

In a heartbreaking video, the Princess of Wales revealed she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Princess Eugenie did not directly mention Kate, however, her plea to "cherish family" has been taken by many fans as a message of support.

This comes as the Princess of York sent her well wishes to King Charles last week, who is also battling cancer.

The princess told ITV News that the King is “doing well” during his treatment.

Eugenie looked beautiful in her Instagram picture, opting for a midi dress from Reiss which costs £168.

The mother-of-two accessorised with a cream headband from Emily London, which retails for a whopping £675.

Ernest is only nine months old, and the princess has not shared many pictures yet of the royal tot.
