The Duke of Sussex overtook his niece in terms of web searches

Princess Charlotte was "overshadowed" by Prince Harry's major move according to Google trends, as pointed out by several royal fans on social media.

At 11.29am on Friday, the Prince and Princess of Wales's social media team released a picture of Princess Charlotte to celebrate her 10th birthday, captioning the image: "Happy 10th Birthday Princess Charlotte!"

The post also contained a camera emoji accompanied by the words: "The Princess of Wales," indicating that Kate took the photograph.

At this time, Princess Charlotte was ahead of Prince Harry in terms of web searches by three percentage points.

However, the Duke of Sussex later overtook his niece at 10.04pm by a whopping 96 percentage points.

This followed his BBC interview and subsequent statement on Sussex.com where he reeled over the loss of his court case.

Harry, 40, lost his appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK.

One royal watcher wrote on social media: "I find it disgusting that Prince Harry has stolen Princess Charlotte’s thunder. Today should have been all about her turning 10."

A third commented: "Prince Harry claims he seeks reconciliation with his family, yet he couldn’t hold off on releasing a self-absorbed, entitled and delusional victimhood interview for even a day, choosing to air it on his niece Princess Charlotte’s birthday, showcasing his selfishness and utter lack of self-awareness."

Finally, someone said: "Just happens to do the pity play on Princess Charlotte's 10th birthday."

However, some fans came to the duke's defence.

For example, someone wrote: "The courts made the decision about Prince Harry’s security today. Were the courts trying to undermine Princess Charlotte also? He is talking about his family’s security and you are more interested in birthdays!!?"

Another said: "I’m sure Charlotte had a wonderful day. Harry’s antics have no impact on her."

A third added: "Charlotte is healthy, happy and living her best life."

Finally, someone commented: "Princess Charlotte is such a bright light that nobody can overshadow her."
