Prince William and Sophie have been pictured drinking pints of cider and shots of gin as the royals let loose during their outing today.

The royal duo sampled local produce at the Food and Farming Pavilion, which showcases dozens of Cornwall's finest artisan food and drink producers.

The pavilion features an array of Cornish specialities including cheeses, preserves and spirits.

Prince William and the Duchess of Edinburgh made a rare joint appearance at the Royal Cornwall Show.

The pair attended the event at the Royal Cornwall Showground to celebrate Cornish heritage through agriculture, food and entertainment.

The show, which has been running for more than two centuries, is organised by the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association. It aims to promote agriculture and related industries across the region.

The venue hosts annual awards including best newcomer and the overall Cornish Food Champion, celebrating the region's thriving food and drink industry.

William toured the Local Nature Partnership Regenerative/Agricultural education hub, hosted by the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership and Cornwall Council. The hub brings together organisations to discuss preserving traditional farming skills whilst supporting future regenerative agricultural practices.

The Duke of Cornwall presented his namesake award, which recognises farm businesses that have successfully implemented sustainable approaches to farming, forestry or food production within Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. The award highlights the region's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable agricultural practices.

His visit to the education hub underscored the royal family's ongoing support for sustainable farming initiatives across the duchy.

The Duchess of Edinburgh visited LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), an organisation of which she is patron. LEAF promotes sustainable food and farming practices through circular approaches to agriculture and food systems.

Sophie's engagement with the organisation highlighted her commitment to environmental causes and sustainable agricultural development. Her patronage reflects the royal family's broader support for initiatives that balance traditional farming with modern sustainability requirements.

The Duchess also met with Girl Guides who have supported the Royal Cornwall Show for many years.

Their longstanding involvement with the event demonstrates the show's importance as a community gathering that brings together various organisations and volunteers from across Cornwall.
