The Duke of Sussex stepped down from the charity in March

Prince Harry will not be returning to work with Sentebale, despite speculation that he and co-founder Prince Seeiso could regain involvement in part of the charity. A Sentebale spokesman confirmed to GB News: “From a legal perspective, this is not possible.”

The Duke of Sussex and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho created Sentebale nearly 20 years ago to continue the legacies of their mothers, Princess Diana and Queen 'Mamohato, supporting children and young people affected by HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana.

However, both founders stepped down in March 2025 following a dispute with the charity’s chairwoman, Sophie Chandauka.

The fallout triggered an investigation by the Charity Commission, which concluded this week. The regulator criticised both parties and issued an action plan to the organisation, which is now led by Dr Chandauka.

Despite the outcome, reports suggested there may still be a way for Harry and Seeiso to re-establish some involvement.

Sources told Newsweek: “There are a lot of complexities to the governance structure of Sentebale, which means we're not entirely clear as to, for example, whether or not Sentebale in Lesotho is a separate organisation and charity to Sentebale in the UK. And it's something that Prince Seeiso is exploring.

“If Prince Seeiso can find a way to extricate Sentebale in Lesotho from Sophie Chandauka he would do it in a heartbeat. If that were the case, then I think there is a world in which Prince Harry would love to work with Prince Seeiso again in effectively continuing the good work the pair have done for nearly the last two decades.”

The Sentebale spokesman's statement to GB News firmly closed down that possibility from a legal standpoint.

During the Charity Commission’s probe, Prince Harry was cleared of major allegations made by Chandauka, who accused him of “bullying and harassment at scale.”

The Commission also found no evidence to support claims that former trustees had engaged in misogyny or misogynoir (racism against black women).

Following the conclusion of the case, Dr Chandauka said in a statement shared with GB News: “The unexpected adverse media campaign that was launched by those who resigned on 24 March 2025 has caused incalculable damage and offers a glimpse of the unacceptable behaviours displayed in private.

“We are emerging not just grateful to have survived, but stronger: more focused, better governed, boldly ambitious and with our dignity intact.

“Despite the recent turbulence, we will always be inspired by the vision of our Founders, Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, who established Sentebale in memory of their precious mothers, Princess Diana and Queen 'Mamohato."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Prince Harry said: "The Charity Commission has today announced its findings. Unsurprisingly, the Commission makes no findings of wrongdoing in relation to Sentebale’s Co-Founder and former Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

"They also found no evidence of widespread bullying, harassment or misogyny and misogynoir at the charity, as falsely claimed by the current Chair.

"Despite all that, their report falls troublingly short in many regards, primarily the fact that the consequences of the current Chair’s actions will not be borne by her—but by the children who rely on Sentebale’s support.

"Sentebale has been a deeply personal and transformative mission for Prince Harry, established to serve some of the most vulnerable children in Lesotho and Botswana.

"For 19 years, its dedicated staff and steadfast supporters have provided vital care to over 100,000 young people across southern Africa, including young people living with HIV/AIDS and those facing mental health challenges.

"As custodians of this once brilliant charity, Prince Seeiso, Prince Harry and the former Board of Trustees helped grow Sentebale from the seed of an idea to—like its namesake—a flowering force for good.

"With the original mission of Sentebale firmly in mind—and in honour of the legacy he and Prince Seeiso began—The Duke of Sussex will now focus on finding new ways to continue supporting the children of Lesotho and Botswana.”
