Prince Harry issued a heartfelt message as no members of the Royal Family attended the Invictus Games event on Wednesday.

The Duke of Sussex gave a reading during a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Harry was not joined by any senior members of the Royal Family for the event as the King held a garden party at Buckingham Palace the same afternoon.

King Charles was joined by Camilla, Prince Edward, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne at the royal residence.

Inside St Paul’s cathedral, Harry read a lesson taken from Corinthians stating: “Now there are varieties of gifts, with the same spirit and there are varieties of services, with the same lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same god who activates all of them in everyone.

“To each is given the manifestation of the spirit of the common good.”

Before entering the cathedral on Wednesday, the prince was only met by his aunt and uncle on his mother’s side.

Princess Diana’s siblings, Charles Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes greeted Harry with a hug at the anniversary event.

Harry founded the sporting competition in 2014 while he was still a working member of the Royal Family.

The Invictus Games inspire recovery for wounded veterans through sports, esports and adventurous challenges.

In February, Harry travelled with his wife Meghan Markle to Canada to attend the Invictus Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebrations.

However, Meghan did not accompany the Duke of Sussex on his trip to the UK this week.

Harry did see King Charles in February days after it was announced the monarch had been diagnosed with cancer.

However, on Tuesday a spokesperson for Harry confirmed that he would not meet with King Charles this week.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
