Prince Harry has used his memoir Spare to partly blame the Prince and Princess of Wales for his decision to dress up as a Nazi soldier in 2005.
Harry, who was 20-years-old at the time, was pictured on the front page of The Sun in the Nazi costume that he had worn to a “Native and Colonial” themed party.
Prince William also attended the party dressed as a lion.
In one segment of his bombshell book obtained by Page Six, Prince Harry discusses what motivated his decision to dress up as a Nazi.
Prince Harry has claimed Prince William and Kate Middleton approved his Nazi costume
Prince Harry said: “I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought.
“Nazi uniform, they said.”
He added on Kate and William’s reaction to seeing him wearing the costume: “They both howled. Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.”
The Duke of Sussex stated he would have worn a pilot costume had he not chosen the Nazi outfit.
Prince Harry has previously called the decision to dress up as a Nazi as “one of the biggest mistakes of my life”.
A senior publishing source told Page Six following regarding Harry’s sensational claim: “It’s strange as you would think that Harry would take ownership of this and just move on and not drag his brother into it.
“But he makes it clear that he feels strongly about William’s role in the scandal.”
Spare is set to be released on January 10 and hardback versions of the book will be in UK bookstores from Tuesday morning.
The e-book version will be available on kindle from Monday evening in the US and at midnight on Tuesday.
Prince Harry and his team have put in stringent security measures to ensure the book is published at the same time worldwide.
The memoir is being published in 16 languages including Chinese and Spanish.
Spare is currently ranked number two on Amazon’s best seller list for as fans begin to pre-order copies ahead of its release next week.
