Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, are reportedly delighted with the new puppies, with the family considering keeping the litter.

"Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close," a source said.

The source added that the Wales family are "loving the pups so far and hope to keep them."

Orla joined the Wales family in 2020, gifted by Kate's younger brother, James Middleton after his dog Luna welcomed "six little healthy pups."

James shared the news on Instagram at the time, noting that "they all have lovely homes waiting for them."

The family's choice of name was revealed two years later in Princess Charlotte's 7th birthday portraits.

Orla is a Celtic name meaning "golden princess" - a particularly fitting choice for a royal canine companion.

The black cocker spaniel became part of the family shortly before William and Kate's previous dog Lupo passed away in November 2020.

Lupo, also a black cocker spaniel, had been given to the royal couple by James Middleton as a "belated wedding present" in 2011.

In his memoir "Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life," James revealed that William received Lupo during a challenging time when he was preparing for a six-week deployment to the Falkland Islands.

The Prince and Princess of Wales recently shared a rare image of Orla to mark National Pet Day on April 11.

The Instagram photo showed the dog with her "shiny coat seemingly wet from an adventure" in a grassy area.

"Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives," the couple's team wrote.
