A source stated that William and Kate wanted to keep a sense of normality during their mum’s time away from home.

The source told The Sun that the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted Kate's "absence to feel as normal as possible for the youngsters.”

The Prince of Wales is reported to have visited Kate “every day” in hospital in Marylebone since her surgery last week.

Raising their three children is a “top priority” for Kate and William who put their children first and jobs second.

While Kate is in hospital Prince William is splitting his time between visiting the princess and looking after their children.

The author of a new biography about the reign of King Charles III, Robert Hardman, stated: “We know they are a very tight family unit, and he [William] wants to be there for them.”

Hardman continued: “So much of what they do with those kids is about normalizing life and not making them feel like they are in a special gilded cage.”

The royals make sure that they don’t “leave it all to the nanny” and often carry out the school run and get involved with their children’s school activities.

A royal commentator has also claimed that Kate’s sister and mother, Pippa and Carole Middleton, are set to help Prince William look after their three children.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said: "The Middletons are a really close family and Carole is a very hands-on grandmother, and I'm sure she will be at the helm. She often picks the kids up.

"Pippa has children of her own now, but I'm sure she will help by offering to have the kids round for tea and that kind of thing."

Today King Charles visited Princess Kate in hospital as he was admitted to the same clinic for prostate treatment.

Angela Levin, Royal commentator tweeted: “How touching to read that the King, who is in the same hospital as Princess Catherine popped into see her this morning.”
