Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are set to join the royals at Balmoral this summer after finishing their academic school year.

Princess Kate and Prince William's three children attend Lambrook School in Bracknell, where they finished up for the school year on Saturday, July 5.

The following weekend saw Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, attend the Men's Singles Final of Wimbledon, where Jannik Sinner was crowned victorious over Carlos Alcaraz.

It is thought that the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children will join King Charles and Queen Camilla at Balmoral Castle at some point over the summer holidays.

In 2013, shortly after Prince George was born on July 22, the Waleses made their first family trip to Scotland in the summer, continuing the Royal Family tradition.

Queen Elizabeth II always spent her summers at the royal residence located in the Scottish Highlands.

This custom has been continued by her son, King Charles, and the rest of the Royal Family.

The late monarch once remarked about Balmoral: “You can go out for miles and never see anybody, there are endless possibilities.”

Balmoral was thought to be Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite royal residence.

She stayed at the Highlands estate every year, from August to October, and it was here that she enjoyed her honeymoon with Prince Philip in November 1947.

Writing to the Queen Mother during their stay, Queen Elizabeth said: “It’s heaven up here."

Referring to her husband, the late Duke of Edinburgh, and her Corgis, Susan and Rummy, the late Queen continued: "Philip is reading full length on the sofa, Susan is stretched out before the fire, Rummy is fast asleep in his box by the fire, and I am busy writing this in one of the armchairs near the fire (you see how important the fire is!)”.

The King is understood to see the summer trip as a 'happy' stay in Balmoral Castle.

The couple stayed at Birkhall, a country home on the Balmoral estate, for their honeymoon, which is now occupied by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

George, Charlotte and Louis are due to begin their autumn term of school on Wednesday, September 3.

Kate and William's eldest child will be starting Year 8, which is the final academic year at Lambrook School.

Once the future king has turned 13, he will start his secondary school education at likely either Eton College or Marlborough College.
