King Charles embraced his creative side while studying at Cambridge

Prince George may be set to take up acting, a passion once beloved by King Charles, during his secondary school education set to begin in September 2026.

Discussion of the young royal’s future has been swirling as his 12th birthday looms and it remains unconfirmed what institution the future king will attend.

George currently attends Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his siblings, with Eton and Marlborough College as the leading contenders for his next step.

However, an interesting detail emerged with Princess Kate was touring Highgate School in north London as a potential option.

Prince George may explore an interest in acting when he begins secondary school next year

While there, Kate was said to have “spent quite a long time talking to two of the teachers there, including the Head of Drama".

The Princess of Wales had apparently enquired at length over the “drama curriculum and extracurricular activities and what opportunities there might be for appearing in school plays,” the Daily Mail reported.

Highgate is renowned for its "genuinely world-class" drama department and maintains a strong focus on Shakespeare.

It also is seen as a feeder institution for the legendary Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, attended by many of the nation’s favourite thespians over the years.

If George indeed has a passion for acting, he would not be the first member of the Royal Family to do so.

While studying at Cambridge, George’s grandfather King Charles enjoyed acting alongside his academic commitments.

The King was a member of the Dryden Society, Trinity College's drama group, during his time reading Archaeology and Anthropology.

While there, Charles appeared in numerous sketches and revues, even penning some of his own work to be performed.

Charles's time with the Dryden Society was described as "his zenith at Cambridge” by Biographer Sally Bedell Smith.

It is currently unknown if Princess Kate made inquiries about the drama curriculum in some of the other options for George’s secondary education.

Regarding the choice, an insider recently revealed that "all roads lead to Eton" for the future King.

The proximity of Eton to the Waleses home in Windsor appears to have been a significant factor in their decision.

George could be set to be separated from his siblings as part of a royal rule

Prince George, who turns 12 on Tuesday, is set to see his life change in other ways as he is set separated from Princess Charlotte and Prince William thanks to a long held royal ban.

The rule stipulates which royals can travel together in the same plane. Currently, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte can all travel together, but that may soon change for the second in line to the throne.

King Charles's former pilot, Graham Laurie, revealed how a royal rule meant that William started travelling on a different plane to his father once he turned 12 in 1994.

Laurie told OK: "We flew all four: the Prince, the Princess, Prince William and Prince Harry, up until Prince William was 12 years old.

"After that, he had to have a separate aircraft, and we could only fly all four together when they were young with the written permission of Her Majesty," he explained.
