The Edinburghs' tour comes a month after Kate and William's visit

Prince Edward and Sophie’s royal tour has echoed Princess Kate and Prince William's success.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Inner Hebrides, located off the west coast of Scotland, last week to learn more about life in remote island communities.

On Thursday, the Royal Family's social media account posted: "From school performances and sustainable distilling, to stone skimming and ferry rides, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Inner Hebrides last week, where they experienced the culture, community, and resilience of these remarkable Scottish islands."

During their visit, which included the Isle of Jura, the royal couple spent time celebrating the people and culture found across the region. Edward, 61, and Sophie, 60, talked to locals and joined in with activities such as learning how to skim stones.

The Edinburghs' tour comes a month after Princess Kate and Prince William also visited the Inner Hebrides.

Prince William and Kate visited the Isles of Mull and Iona as part of a two-day trip marking their 14th wedding anniversary.

The Prince and Princess of Wales's visit highlighted rural communities and nature, with the couple staying in a self-catered holiday cottage and engaging in activities like visiting a local restaurant and boat ride.

They also took time to meet with local community members and learn about sustainable farming practices.

The successive royal visits demonstrate the Royal Family's continued focus on remote Scottish communities.

The Edinburghs began their comprehensive tour by visiting Small Isles Primary School in Craighouse, where they were warmly welcomed with a sweet dance performance and viewed arts and crafts created by local pupils.

Sophie and Edward's trip included visits to local community groups on the Isle of Jura, Oban Lifeboat Station, and lunch with locals at the Tigh a Truish Inn.

The royal couple also visited the Isle of Easdale and the Atlantic Islands Centre before concluding at the Isle of Colonsay.

While ending their tour, the Duke and Duchess met residents at the Village Centre, representing King Charles in their duties across the Scottish islands.

Sophie and Edward have been given more chances to perform important royal tasks, especially after the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

The mother-of-two was dubbed a "secret weapon" of the Royal Family, who quietly supported the firm during challenging times.

Edward was recently selected by the King to attend Pope Leo XIV's inauguration at the Vatican.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh joyfully represented King Charles in their significant royal duty to the Scottish islands, demonstrating their increased responsibilities within the working royal family during this period.
