The Royal Family confirmed Archie and Lilibet had become prince and princess earlier this month

The Royal Family's decision to grant Archie and Lilibet royal titles has been backed in a new bombshell poll.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's children were made Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex earlier this month.

The move has been backed by US citizens in a suvery.

Over half of Americans (53 per cent) said their children should have the right to the titles, according to polling by Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek.

While 15 per cent said the children should not have been given the titles.

Fourteen per cent did not know whether it was the right decision and 18 per cent said they did not care regarding Archie and Lilibet's new titles.

Earlier this month, the Royal Family updated their official website to reflect Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana's new titles.

Under the section of Succession on the website, Harry and Meghan's children are called Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne whilst his children are sixth and seventh in the line of succession.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a statement addressing their children's new titles.

The Sussexes said: "The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became Monarch.

"This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace."

Archie and Lilibet's titles as princess and prince will be used in formal settings, but not for everyday use by their parents.

However, the Sussexes were keen not to deny their children their birthright, wishing to let Archie and Lilibet decide for themselves when they are older if they wish to keep using their titles or drop them later on.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have not confirmed whether they will attend the Coronation in May 2023.

The ceremony clashes with Meghan and Harry's son's fourth birthday.
