Prince Andrew has lost a cherished role to Queen Camilla in a ruthless move from King Charles.
The monarch has handed over his brother’s role as patron of York Racecourse to the Queen.
Prince Andrew stepped down from the role in 2019, after announcing that he would not be performing any more royal duties.
Camilla has a keen interest in racing and breeding and the new role builds on her existing links with the sport.

The Queen is already patron of the National Stud as well as being president of the Ebony Horse Club, a riding charity in London.
York’s first meeting of the season, the Dante Festival, began on Tuesday with the 1985 Duke of York States renamed to show it was honouring the future George V rather than Prince Andrew.
York Racecourse chairman, Bridget Guerin, said: “We are both honoured and thrilled that Her Majesty has agreed to be the royal patron of York.
“Her well-known support of equestrian sports over many years so very much appreciated by everyone involved. We have been privileged to host Royal visits in the past and very much look forward to welcoming Her Majesty back to York.”
Camilla was also handed the colonelcy of the Grenadier Guards, a prestigious honour previously belonging to the Duke of York.
Prince Philip handed over the title to his son Prince Andrew when the late Queen’s husband retired from public duties in 2017.
Prince Andrew was forced to step down from his royal duties following a disastrous BBC Newsnight interview about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2019.
In 2022, the late Queen stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and royal patronages and no longer allowed him to use his HRH title.

It comes as the duke is facing eviction from his home as his brother King Charles has expressed “alarm” over the state of the property.
According to a royal commentator Prince Andrew is obligated to keep his property in good shape, but claimed that this is “certainly not happening.”
They said: “The state of the residence will be of great concern to the King after everything that has gone on and been discussed in regards to the house.
“Prince Andrew was told he must take charge of the necessary renovations or he will have no cause to stay in the house.
“There is no doubt the King will be alarmed at the true state of the residence after the duke assured him everything was in hand.”
