Royal fans had mixed reactions to the duchess's outfit choice as she linked up with a fellow Montecito-dweller
Meghan Markle was seen making a surprise appearance at Oprah Winfrey's book club session in Summerland, California on Saturday.
As she stepped out, the Duchess of Sussex sported a sleek, all-black sleeveless £315 jumpsuit by Club Monaco at the event - at Goodmothers bookstore, just miles from Meghan's Montecito home.
The 43-year-old mother-of-two kept her look simple yet chic, pairing the jumpsuit with minimal accessories, with her hair in a low ponytail, and her shoulders on show.
Meghan was one of a number of speakers addressing the crowd at the star-studded event, which also featured actor Marco Leone and astrology expert Dr Jennifer Freed.

But royal fans had mixed reactions to the duchess's outfit choice.
Some criticised her penchant for sleeveless designs, with one social media user asking: "What is her obsession with NO SLEEVES... And no colour?"
But others praised the Duchess's look, with one Instagram user writing: "Meghan looks great in this jumpsuit and it fits well... Meg clearly doesn't skip shoulder day", and another adding: "That's a very flattering cut for her on top."
The jumpsuit's design sparked debate, with some calling it "90s fashion", while others labelled it "beautiful" and "fabulous".
MORE ON MEGHAN:
Meghan accessorised her look with several high-end pieces. She wore her £5,000 Cartier Love bangle, which she has owned since at least 2017.
The Duchess also sported a Logan Hollowell diamond tennis necklace and, topping it all off, Princess Diana's £17,800 Cartier Tank Francaise watch.
On her feet, the duchess opted for a pair of Jimmy Choo Etana sandals in tan and tortoise, adding height to her ensemble.
During her speech, Meghan touched on themes of gratitude and joy, telling attendees: "I'm looking at this time as my chapter of joy.

"The more you are able to look at your life and really, truly recognise and be able to be grateful for your life - you have to be grateful for all aspects of it."
Meghan's appearance at the book club event came on the eve of the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death, and highlighted her close friendship with Oprah Winfrey.
The two have been friends for several years, with Oprah attending the Sussexes' wedding in 2018.

PATheir relationship has grown stronger since Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, where Oprah also resides.
In 2021, Oprah carried out a controversial interview with the couple, which aired damaging allegations about the royal family - setting fire to the royal feud.
Goodmothers bookstore, where the event took place, prominently displays Meghan's children's book "The Bench" and Prince Harry's memoir "Spare" on its "hometown heroes" shelf.
