The alleged rift between Meghan Markle and former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful reportedly stems from more than just scheduling conflicts over a failed 2022 magazine cover.
According to sources speaking to Page Six, the Duchess of Sussex presented an "impossible list of demands" for her proposed Vogue appearance.
The Daily Mail reported that Meghan and Enninful had planned for her to feature in the UK Vogue September 2022 issue, which would have coincided with her keynote appearance at the One Young World Summit in Manchester and included "extensive features across the magazine and its digital editions".
Sources claim Meghan wanted a "global cover", appearing simultaneously on both UK and US Vogue editions, along with unprecedented control over the creative process.

"Meghan asked for control over [the] photographer, writer, final edit, photos, cover lines, and wanted a global issue," a source told Page Six.
The report notes that Adele is the only celebrity to have appeared on both US and UK Vogue covers simultaneously, which occurred for the November 2021 issues.
In her determination to secure the global cover, Markle reportedly set up a personal Zoom call with Anna Wintour, the influential editor of US Vogue, to pitch her idea directly.
"Anna wasn't interested," the source told Page Six, explaining that the American magazine already had its own cover star lined up in tennis champion Serena Williams.

Despite Wintour's apparent lack of interest, the source added: "Meghan asked for a Zoom with her to reconsider, and Anna did it to be polite."
However, a contradicting source insisted that Meghan never actively sought a Vogue cover, claiming the magazine had approached her multiple times after her wedding to Prince Harry.
Enninful had previously invited Markle to grace the cover of British Vogue's 2019 "Forces for Change" issue, but she opted to guest edit instead, according to one source.
Despite the failed 2022 Vogue appearance, Meghan did secure other magazine covers that September whilst promoting her "Archetypes" podcast, which has since ended.
