The Duke and Duchess of Sussex deal with Spotify was axed in 2023

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are scrambling for new deals after being dropped by Spotify and with the future of the partnership with Netflix in doubt.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed lucrative deals with the streaming giants after stepping down as working royals in 2020.

However, in the couple's deal with Spotify was axed in 2023 and there has been no announcement on whether their contract with Netflix will be extended past the 2025 expiration date.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams pointed to Meghan and Harry's previous reliance on hitting out at the Royal Family as the reason behind a drop off in opportunities for the Sussexes as the public does not support the continued attacks.

Fitzwilliams told GB News: "There has not been evidence of people reaching out to them.

"They have made money by trashing the Royal family.

"But you can do that for so long and you can only have public support in doing that for so long."

It comes as Harry and Meghan were invited to the glitzy premiere of the Paramount film One Love by the company's CEO.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are friends with the family of Brain Robbins, the chief executive of both Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.

The couple were invited to the Bob Marley film's premiere by the Robbins family, who they have a "personal friendship" with, according to a source.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's appearance alongside the Paramount CEO looked to be a public warning shot to Netflix.

The couple have produced two documentaries for the platform, Harry & Meghan which was a huge streaming success and Heart of Invictus which failed to reach the same heights as their debut project.

The Sussexes are reportedly working on several projects for the platform but none have been given a release date or promoted publicly.

Fitzwilliams said regarding the couple's lack of output: "The only thing they are doing as far as I can see with Invictus, Prince Harry already had that.

"So they have not done anything, they lost Spotify. Will they lose Netflix? The contract runs out in 2025."

He added: "It is rather bewildering their silence."
