The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's daughter will face a "split" between the Sussexes and the monarchy according to a royal commentator.

Tom Quinn highlighted that Meghan and Harry's decision to name Lilibet after Queen Elizabeth II's nickname will tie their daughter to the Royal Family.

He added that the couple's son Archie will not face the same problem as his name is not linked to royalty.

Quinn said: "Everyone will know that Lilibet got her name because it was Elizabeth II's childhood name, and I don't think that's a good thing.

Quinn said: "Everyone will know that Lilibet got her name because it was Elizabeth II's childhood name, and I don't think that's a good thing.

"I think it ties her too close to a world that her parents really want to leave behind.

"So there's going to be a split, she's going to feel that she was named in a way that ties her to England and to the Royal Family very closely.

"But she's growing up with parents who are very wary of the world they've left behind... very critical of it and rejecting it."

During an interview with the Express, he added on Archie Harrison's name: "He at least isn't saddled with a royal name."

Earlier this month, the Royal Family updated their official website to reflect Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana's new titles.

Under the section of Succession on the website, Harry and Meghan's children are called Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a statement addressing their children's new titles.

The Sussexes said: "The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became Monarch.

"This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace."

Archie and Lilibet's titles as prince and princess will be used in formal settings, but not for every day use.

However, Meghan and Harry were keen not to deny their children their birthright and wish to let Archie and Lilibet decide for themselves when they are older, if they wish to keep using their titles or drop them later on.
