The Princess of Wales and the monarch were both hospitalised at The London Clinic

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were "right" in how they approached Princess Kate and King Charles after surgery, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reported to have reached out privately to the Princess of Wales and the monarch after they were both hospitalised for different health concerns.

Kate, 42, underwent "planned abdominal surgery" while the King, 75, received corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate.

Meghan and Harry, according to a royal source, reached out to Kate and the King privately to send their good wishes.

The interaction came as the relationship between the Sussexes and the Royal Family is understood to be severely strained.

A source claimed the couple contacted the princess and the King to pass on their concerns.

“The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health,” the insider told The Mirror.

“The duke and duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes.”

Marlene Koenig, a royal historian, spoke exclusively to GB News to explain how the Sussexes made the "right" move.

She said: "It has been reported that they sent private messages, which would be the right thing to do."

Kate and King Charles were both discharged from The London Clinic on Monday, January 29.

The monarch has been recuperating at Sandringham since Wednesday, according to the Court Circular.

Meanwhile, Princess Kate is at her Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage, along with Prince William and their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

Queen Camilla has performed royal duties every working day this week, regularly providing updates about the King's convalescence.

Prince William, 41, is reported to return to royal duties by the end of next week once the Princess of Wales is "settled".
