Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's latest snub will be intensifying the Royal Family's anxiety regarding the Sussexes and the Coronation.

It has been over a month since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed they received an invitation to the ceremony.

However, since then the couple has remained silent on whether they will turn up to the historic event.

It is known that King Charles does want Prince Harry to attend his Coronation with his wife Meghan Markle but their two young children Archie and Lilibet have not been invited.

Meghan and Harry's eldest child Archie will turn four on the day of the Coronation, the same age King Charles was when he attended his mother Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation.

But due to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's radio silence, there will be no small gesture to Archie, who looks increasingly likely to stay in California, alongside his sister Lilibet, for the event regardless of if Meghan and Harry attend.

It has been reported this week that royal insiders are "none the wiser" on whether the couple will be coming to the Coronation.

This is despite the fact the RSVP deadline was April 3.

Buckingham Palace has not commented on the Sussexes' non-RSVP but an aide outlined that it was unlikely the strict cut-off date would be applied to family members.

However, Meghan and Harry's decision to miss the cut-off date and delay announcing their intentions will be disrupting the Royal Family's planning process, even if only on a small scale.

It will add an element of anxiety to the Coronation for the senior members of the Royal Family and increase their wariness of the Sussexes.

Meghan and Harry currently represent a large area of unpredictability at an event being planned so meticulously.

A guestlist of 2,000 was carefully crafted yet the King currently does not know if his son will be there.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have decided that keeping their cards close to their chest and the Royal Family in the dark is the best move in their arsenal to obtain an apology from the monarchy or the couple could still be weighing up what effect attending the event will have on their approval rating.

Either way, the Sussexes' looming decision has become an unhelpful sideshow to the historic event, and their decision to continue delaying their announcement shows the couple are prioritising themselves over the Royal Family.
