Meghan Markle has revealed she turned to traditional Indian medicine during her pregnancies with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, disclosed that she consulted an ayurvedic doctor while expecting her children, who are now six and three years old respectively.

The revelation came during the fifth episode of her "Confessions of a Female Founder" podcast, where she discussed holistic approaches to health and wellness.

Ayurveda originated in India more than 3,000 years ago and focuses on promoting balance in body, mind and spirit.

Speaking on her podcast, Meghan said: "During my pregnancies I had an ayurvedic doctor and so much of it was about seeing food as medicine."

The traditional practice employs herbal remedies, dietary changes, detoxification and yoga as part of its holistic approach to wellbeing.

The King has also been a longtime supporter of alternative medicine, having appointed and honoured a pro-homeopathic doctor who continues to lead his medical team.

Meghan's comments came during a discussion with Hannah Mendoza, co-founder of a "superfood" latte and tea company.

The pair discussed adaptogenic mushrooms, with Meghan acknowledging common misconceptions about them.

"I think a lot of people when they hear mushrooms think 'oh okay she's just being hippy dippy and grounded' and all these things," she admitted on the podcast.

The Duchess clarified that these mushrooms are "part of our natural ecosystem and dietary system" and offer benefits "in a really safe way."

Clevr Blends, founded by Ms Mendoza in 2017, features adaptogens, superfoods and probiotics in powdered latte blends.

She added: "I remember calling you and saying 'look I just want to share it with my neighbour', my wonderful neighbour, Ms Oprah Winfrey."

Ms Mendoza revealed the impact of Winfrey's endorsement was immediate and substantial.

Within "30 seconds" of being tagged on Instagram by the media mogul, more than 10,000 people visited the company's website.

The connection proved valuable beyond the initial surge, with Clevr Blends later featuring on "Oprah's Favourite Things" list for two consecutive years.

Ms Mendoza described how she "fell on the floor" when she saw Winfrey's video making the brand's "Golden SuperLatte."
