The Duke of Sussex is testifying in High Court this week against MGN in a phone hacking case

Prince Harry would be welcome back into the Royal Family without Meghan Markle, according to a royal commentator.

Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, backed the monarchy to welcome the Duke of Sussex back into the royal fold.

However, Bond added that this was unlikely to happen soon.

She said: "I think that Harry, without Meghan, would be forgiven and welcomed back into the royal fold in the fullness of time.

"But it is still unlikely at the moment."

Bond continued during her interview with OK!: "I think there is still enough goodwill towards Harry, well, to the old Harry that we all remember.

"He could recoup the ground he's lost and in time and be welcomed back.

"But I don't think it's anywhere on the horizon."

It comes as the Duke of Sussex is testifying in High Court this week against Mirror Group Newspapers in a phone hacking case.

A 55-page statement was also released on Tuesday as the royal began giving evidence in the dispatch box.

Harry is the first senior member of the Royal Family to be questioned in court since 1891.

Prince Harry made a glaring error in the witness statement he submitted as part of his bitter legal battle with MGN.

In part of his statement, Harry refers to his father as "HRH King Charles III".

However, the correct title is His Majesty King Charles III.

As a member of the Royal Family, it is a surprising error for the Duke of Sussex to make.
