The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will soon return to the spotlight at a major event in Germany

Meghan Markle has been urged to rethink her image after suffering a backlash following a turbulent few months.

The 41-year-old and her husband Prince Harry sparked outrage after releasing their six-part Netflix docuseries and the Duke’s Megxit memoir Spare.

An expert has now suggested the Duchess of Sussex needs to undergo a rebrand and even claimed a return to acting remains possible.

Royal author Pauline Maclaran, a professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway University, told The Daily Express US: “There could be surprises from Meghan - people have talked about her possibly developing a lifestyle brand - but she needs to develop a more definite image than she has at the moment.

“It wouldn't surprise me if she went back to acting or something she is known to have done and to be quite good at.

“Going back to the core brand values would seem to make sense and going forward more as individuals with the common interests on Archewell would seem to make sense.”

Meghan and Harry will return to the spotlight in just a few weeks time at an event close to the Duke’s heart.

The Sussexes are scheduled to jet over to Germany from the couple’s $14million Montecito mansion for the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

The event for ex-servicemen and women was founded by the Duke of Sussex and will take place on September 9, one day after the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

It will last until September 16 when Meghan will likely moderate a farewell show and Harry will give a closing speech.

It is not yet known if the couple will stop off in the United Kingdom or bring with them their children Archie and Lilibet during the two week European trip.

The couple have taken a backward step in recent months after attending the Women in Vision Awards in New York in May.

They claimed at the time to have been involved in a “near catastrophic” car chase with paparazzi after the event in the Big Apple.

A spokesman for the Sussexes said the couple and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland “were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi”.

However, paparazzi denied there were any near crashes and New York Police Department said “numerous photographers” made the couple’s journey “challenging” but there were “no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests”.

The Duke and Duchess have faced several challenges in recent months, including Spotify parting ways with the pair over Meghan’s Archetypes podcast.
