Angela Levin has branded Meghan Markle as "beyond cruel" and claimed that she is "trying to take away Harry's spotlight".

The Duchess of Sussex launched her lifestyle brand, named American Riviera Orchard, last week and has been vilified since due to her decision to announce it on the same day as the Princess Diana Legacy Awards.

According to Levin, the move was down to Meghan believing she ‘has to be in the limelight’.

The royal biographer claimed: “She took away Harry’s spotlight on the day of his mother’s charity. He loves his mother, he still feels they’re in connection with the heavens. He feels like Meghan has sort of replaced her.

"He thinks Diana would have adored Meghan and they’d have been best friends. I don’t think that is quite right.

“I think to spoil that occasion for your husband and take the limelight from him is beyond cruel.”

The author also told Nana Akua a tell-tale indication was how ‘impatient’ the Duchess of Sussex was while carrying out engagements, reflected by a purported unwillingness to ‘walk behind’ Princess Kate.

“She wants to be in charge”, she said.

“She didn’t want to be walking behind Catherine often during the time when they were there.

“She would try and go first into the next room. The aides, some of them would walk incredibly quickly to hold them back because they couldn’t go before Queen Elizabeth, who was alive at the time.

“If she had stayed, she could have been terrific with many of the things she could have done, but she couldn’t wait. She’s very impatient."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their roles as senior royals in January 2020 and after a short stint in Canada they moved to the US.

The pair have recently set up a website entitled Sussex.com that describes Harry as a "environmentalist" and Meghan as a "feminist."

Recently they have found themselves separated further from the Royal Family as their profiles were "downgraded" on the official Buckingham Palace website.

They were initially removed entirely from the site before their individual bios were replaced by a 577-word joint section below Prince Andrew.

At the bottom of their profile, a sentence reads: "Information about the current work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be found on their official website: sussex.com."
