The Duchess of Sussex's first role was previously kept under the radar

Meghan Markle has marvelled at "how far" she has come while speaking with model Chrissy Teigen on her Netflix lifestyle programme.

The Duchess of Sussex made the reflection while talking publicly for the first time about her stint as a "briefcase girl" on the game show Deal or No Deal.

Meghan worked on the US version of the programme in 2006, before landing her big break role in the legal drama Suits.

The Duchess appeared as a “briefcase girl,” which required her to sport a party dress and open a case to reveal various numbers as part of the game show

Her TV debut remained relatively under the radar after any reference to Deal or No Deal was scrubbed from her Wikipedia page before her relationship with Prince Harry became public.

It was through this humble first role that Meghan first met Chrissy Teigen, who also worked as a “briefcase girl” on the show.

The Duchess recalled: “I remember us all having to stand in line to get our lashes put on.”

Emphasising the humble beginnings of her career, Meghan remembered her relief that the role allowed her access to healthcare in the US.

“I was just so happy to have health insurance. I was like, ‘I get health insurance with this job’.” she said.

That memory evidently gave Meghan some pause for thought as she added wistfully: “How far we’ve come.”

Since working on the show together, Meghan and Ms Teigen have remained friends.

As such, she was one of the headline guests on season two of With Love, Meghan, which returned to screens on August 27.

Personal friends also feature, including make-up artist Daniel Martin, entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima and pilates instructor Heather Dorak.

Whilst Prince Harry and their children Archie and Lilibet remain absent from the episodes, the Duchess references them throughout the programme.
