The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the wedding

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were invited to the Duke of Westminster's upcoming wedding, according to a source.

Hugh Grosvenor, Prince Archie's godfather, and Olivia Henson will marry at Chester Cathedral on June 7 2024, in what will be the society wedding of the year.

The Sunday Times claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been excluded from the the event but a source has now disputed this.

The insider told Page Six: "Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood."

King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to attend the wedding.

Hugh Grosvenor is a godson of the King and has close links to the Royal Family.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will also attend, with William reportedly in the running to be the Duke of Westminster's best man.

It comes as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's feud with the Royal Family continues to rage on.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not on speaking terms with Kate and William.

Prince Harry looked to have offered his father an olive branch last month when he rang him on his 75 birthday.

A video of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet singing Happy Birthday was also sent to the monarch by his son.

Meghan Markle spoke to King Charles on the phone during his birthday in a move that could have been the start of building bridges between the royals and the Sussexes.

Less than a month later the Royal Family was plunged into a storm when the Dutch version of Endgame named King Charles and Kate, the Princess of Wales as the members of the monarchy who allegedly had "concerns" about Archie's skin colour.

Meghan Markle claimed during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that members of the Royal Family had "concerns" about how dark her son's skin colour would be when he was born.

Sources close to the Duchess of Sussex have insisted no one on her team briefed Omid Scobie, the royal author of Endgame, on the names of the royals who allegedly made the remarks.

The names appeared in the Dutch version of Endgame after a draft version of the book was published in the Netherlands rather than the final version which did not include the names, according to the Times.
