King Charles is facing an uncomfortable dilemma as Prince Harry's return to the UK will clash with Queen Camilla's 80th birthday.
Prince Harry is preparing to extend an olive branch to the Royal Family through a formal invitation to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The Duke of Sussex plans to send an emailed invitation later this month, followed by formal correspondence, in what insiders characterise as his most significant reconciliation gesture to date.
The sporting event for wounded veterans is scheduled to run from 12 to 17 July 2027 at Birmingham's NEC.
However, the timing has created a significant dilemma for royal planners, as the Games' closing ceremony falls on 17 July - Queen Camilla's 80th birthday.

The scheduling conflict means the Royal Family faces a difficult choice between supporting the international sporting event and marking the Queen's milestone celebration, for which preparations are likely already underway.
The clash presents particular challenges for King Charles, who must balance supporting his son's charitable endeavours with honouring his wife's special day.
The source added: "Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans."
Despite the Royal Family's historical backing of Invictus, the date overlap complicates any potential acceptance of Harry's invitation.
Sources describe the invitation as the clearest signal yet of Harry's wish to repair relationships with the King and other senior royals.

The Duke will initially send an electronic invitation this month, with formal documentation to follow.
A source told The Mail on Sunday: "Harry has agreed that Invictus should extend an invitation to his family.
"Invictus hopes the Royal Family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part."
The source continued: "The Royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him which might be reciprocated."
The Telegraph reports that potential reconciliation has been discussed at the highest levels within the Palace, with senior aides recognising the Birmingham event could offer a valuable opportunity to heal the rift.
A spokesman for Invictus stated: "No formal invitations have been issued as preparations are in the early stages."

Uncertainty surrounds whether the Duchess of Sussex and the couple's children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet, would accompany Harry to Birmingham.
The Duke has previously declared he cannot bring his family to Britain without "full police protection".
Buckingham Palace sources declined to comment on the forthcoming invitation on Sunday, maintaining that diaries are not scheduled so far ahead.
Palace insiders have previously stated that royals do not participate in each other's professional activities.
The King received an invitation to a service marking the Games' 10th anniversary at St Paul's Cathedral last May but did not attend.
