Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have launched several public attacks on the Royal Family since they stepped down as working members of the monarchy

King Charles has been urged to give an interview ahead of the Coronation to stop Meghan and Harry's "assault" on the Royal Family.

Royal author Tom Bower told GB News that the Duchess of Sussex is "ready to strike hard" ahead of the Coronation.

Bower added that by doing an interview King Charles will be able to reclaim the narrative of the Coronation just days before the historic ceremony.

He said: "[Meghan is] clearly ready to strike hard just when the Coronation happens and the Palace is allowing this to happen.

"The only way, in my view, in which they can now undermine Meghan and Harry's assault is for King Charles to give an interview, to explain what the Coronation is about, what his reign is about, what he believes in, and to actually stamp his image and his views on Britain."

During his interview with GB News, Bower criticised the Royal Family for allowing Meghan and Harry to "run away with the agenda".

He said: "I feel it's exactly what we've been predicting would happen.

"The photographs of Meghan yesterday smiling at the Lakers match and all the rest of it. That came from America and that dominated the news."

Bower continued: "For the public, this is all just confusing, the focus should have been on Charles.

"He should at this moment be giving an interview explaining what being King of England means.

"He should be dominating the headlines but the Palace has allowed the Sussexes to run away with the agenda."

On Tuesday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dominated the headlines following an appearance at an NBA game in LA.

The couple were on a date night watching the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies in game four of the playoffs.

Later in the day the Sussexes continued to dominate royal news as Prince Harry's lawyers claimed that Prince William settled for a "very large sum" in a deal struck between Buckingham Palace and Rupert Murdoch's firm.
