People in Windsor have wished The King and The Princess of Wales a speedy recovery and urged them to “Come home soon!”.
It follows the announcement of a double royal health scare with King Charles, 75, awaiting treatment for an enlarged prostate and Princess Catherine, 42, in hospital recuperating from abdominal surgery.
Peter Abbott, 78, a retired engineer said it must be a “worrying time” for the royal family: “To come to the throne at a mature age can’t be easy. He’ll have the best treatment, but the prostate is a very worrying thing and age is against you. I wish them all the best.”
He also praised The Queen for being “an absolute brick” for King Charles and said she would play an important role in his recovery: “You can’t have anything better than someone who loves you that much. They’re very very devoted.”

The King, who is at his private home Birkhall in Aberdeenshire, is preparing for a corrective procedure next week after being diagnosed with a benign enlarged prostate.
Describing the negative diagnosis as “excellent news”, Bradley Mitchell, 47, a car dealership owner from Worcestershire said: “I have surgery myself this Saturday so I do know the feeling. It’s always a concern”.
Mark Atkins, 59, a painter and decorator said: “I just hope it goes well for the man because surgery can be dodgy. He’s had a tough couple of years bless him.”
Earlier it was revealed that The Prince of Wales had visited his wife’s bedside today as she spent a third day in hospital after going under the knife.
Mr Atkins said: “William will be worried 100%, but I believe he will be fine looking after the kids by himself as he’s a natural dad.”
Other well-wishers included Crystal Laurence, 59, a support worker and her friend Maria who urged both royals to “Come back home to Windsor as soon as you can!”
Christopher Burr, 72, a wine consultant said: “God bless them. I think they’re a wonderful family and they do fantastic service to this country.”
Meanwhile, Ertiga Ahmed, 28, an International Policy student at Royal Holloway University said: “We hope to see them back in action soon”.
