Akash Deep emerged as the star performer for India, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in just his eighth Test match.

The seamer's exceptional spell began after morning rain, when he dismissed Ollie Pope early before trapping Harry Brook leg before wicket for 23 with a sharp delivery that cut back.

England's resistance crumbled despite Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith's partnership lasting 115 deliveries.
