King Charles has returned to London amid his cancer treatment after a holiday with Queen Camilla.

The King, 75, waved to royal fans and tourists as he arrived back at Clarence House following a brief trip to Scotland with the Queen, 76.

Charles and Camilla stayed in Birkhall, their Scottish retreat, to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary earlier this month.

Birkhall also happened to be where the King and Queen honeymooned back in 2005.

Following his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, the monarch looked in good spirits as he sat inside his maroon state Bentley sedan today.

As Charles drove by, excited royal fans snapped pictures of him alongside Queen Camilla.

Many spectators looked surprised to see the King and Queen up so close.

Last night, King Charles and Queen Camilla returned from their brief visit to the Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire.

It was the monarch's first trip to Scotland since disclosing his diagnosis in February.

The King has mostly withdrawn from public duties while undergoing treatment.

However, he has continued to read his red boxes every day and attend weekly meetings with the Prime Minister.

In the coming weeks, however, it is understood Charles intends to "ramp up his schedule".

Last month, the King participated in the Easter Sunday service at Windsor with other senior royals.

This gave the British public a much-needed boost in morale following the news that he and the Princess of Wales had been diagnosed with forms of cancer.

Many royal fans who had gathered outside Windsor Castle wished the King luck.

One encouraged Charles to "never give in" as the King shook hands and conversed with his subjects.
