Celebrations will take place today to celebate the monarch's milestone birthday

King Charles turns 75 years old today in a milestone birthday, which he is celebrating with his wife, Queen Camilla.

The King and Queen stepped out in Oxfordshire today to officially launch The Coronation Food Project.

This aims to bridge the gap between food waste and food needs across all four nations of the United Kingdom.

Charles grinned as he was photographed spending his 75th birthday at the South Oxfordshire Food and Education Alliance (SOFEA) surplus food distribution centre.

The Tower of London is one of many landmarks which will have ceremonial gun salutes to mark the milestone birthday.

Despite filling the day with busy engagements, King Charles will have a private dinner for close family and friends tonight.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not attend the party as they were not invited, according to their spokesperson.

The Sunday Times initially reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had snubbed their invitation.

However, the couple's spokesperson confirmed that they had received "no contact" from Buckingham Palace.

On Monday, the King was serenaded at a tea party to begin his 75th birthday celebrations.

Charles joined fellow 75-year-olds at Highgrove House, where they enjoyed live music from a rock choir and afternoon tea.

The choir opted to play Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, one of the King's favourite singers.

King Charles once described his "extraordinary" lyrics as "very moving".

Later in the day, guests sang Happy Birthday before the King said: “Thank you very much.”
