Princess Kate finds the comparison of her workload to other members of the Royal Family's number of engagements "irritating", according to a source.

The Princess of Wales has received some criticism regarding the lack of engagements she undertakes compared to older members of the monarchy.

Kate has chosen to focus on selective causes that are close to her heart alongside raising her three children at the same time.

A source told the Mail: "What the court circular numbers don't show is the hours and hours she spends with the team designing the programmes you see in public.

"Like her husband, she is deep in the reeds of the planning, something which isn't reflected in the number of engagements undertaken each year. It's irritating."

It comes as the Princess of Wales looks set for a promotion as her influence within the monarchy continues to grow.

Prince William and his wife are pivotal to King Charles's new streamlined version of the Royal Family that will focus on the direct line of succession.

The Princess of Wales will celebrate her 42nd birthday on January 9th 2024 and it could be followed by Kate receiving new power from the King.

King Charles is reportedly considering appointing Kate as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter, the most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain.

The monarch personally chooses the members with key members in the Royal Family such as Prince William, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Prince Edward already part of the Order of the Garter.

The King may also grant the Princess of Wales the power to grant royal warrants, alongside Queen Camilla and Prince William.

The monarch decides who grants royal warrants, Prince Philip and Charles when he held the title of the Prince of Wales had the power alongside Queen Elizabeth II.

Currently, just King Charles has the power but he may grant Queen Camilla and Prince William similar roles to the ones held by Prince Philip and himself under the late Queen.

Some existing warrant holders told the Mail that having Kate officially endorse them would be a "huge boost to the British industry".

One said: "Interest would go through the roof, particularly in areas such as fashion and lifestyle."
