Princess Kate brilliantly answered an awkward question during her latest Royal Family engagement.

The Princess of Wales attended the opening of The Young V&A, formerly known as the V&A Museum of Childhood, on Wednesday.

During the event, the royal spoke to a group of young children.

One girl asked the princess: "How old are you?"

Kate then responded in a whisper: "I'm 41, don't tell anyone!"

The Princess of Wales's joke seemed to refer to the fact that she is not part of the museum's target audience which is ages between 0-14.

Princess Kate has had multiple tricky moments to navigate during recent royal engagements.

Earlier this month, Kate was interrupted by a burp during an engagement.

The Princess of Wales was visiting Riversley Park Children's Centre in Nuneaton.

The royal sat and chatted with a group of women as they bounced babies on their laps.

Kate had a conversation with Mischa Kerr, 36, and her nine-month-old Talia Saliba-Kerr - who spent the entire session holding the royal's right hand.

Another infant in the room, 10-week-old Raphael Pickering interrupted the chat by letting out a massive burp.

Kate turned to the baby and said "well done you" in a cute three word response to the incident.

The royal added: "It's always really reassuring, you spend ages trying to make that happen."

Raphael's mother said after the incident: "I thought he was going to be sick, I thought 'please don't vomit on the princess', but luckily it was only a burp.

"I'm going to wait till his 18th birthday to tell him."
