Princess Kate announced she is receiving cancer treatment earlier this year

GB News Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker says Prince William is "very touched" by the outpouring of support for the Royal Family, as he returned to public royal duties.

The Prince of Wales broke cover after almost a month away, as he helped out at a food delivery charity in Surrey.

The royal has continued his work whilst his wife Princess Kate receives treatment for cancer, as well as King Charles, who is also battling the disease.

Speaking to GB News, Cameron told hosts Tom Harwood and Emma Webb that Prince William was "touched" by the kind gestures of volunteers at Surplus to Supper.

One volunteer gave the Prince two get well soon cards for the monarch and Princess of Wales, as William thanked her for her "kindness".

Cameron said Prince William will be "feeling the strain" behind the scenes as his family process Kate's diagnosis and treatment.

Cameron told GB News: "There was a lot of social media speculation about the princess's condition, and they asked for privacy over the Easter break so they could as a family, come to terms with that diagnosis.

"He was very touched when he was handed those two get well soon cards. He told Rachel, 'thank you very much, that's really kind'. But he didn't go into any detail about the princess's condition, as perhaps you would expect."

A 15-year-old who uses the food charities services spoke to Cameron and praised the Prince of Wales for being "down to earth" and "really engaged" in the work that the youth centre does.

GB News host Tom Harwood asked Cameron how Prince William was "holding up" in his work, following the cancer news.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Cameron revealed: "I think it's very easy to put a brave face on, and you could really see that Prince William was very much engaged with the work that he had here.

"He does want to continue as normal with his public work, behind the scenes with the Earthshot Prize, and with the Surplus Food Initiative, which he's been supporting and spotlighting today."

Cameron also discussed the latest on King Charles's condition, as the monarch has been open about his cancer diagnosis and treatment, remaining in good spirits in his public engagements.

He said of the King's condition: "Of course, King Charles is still also battling a cancer alongside Kate, although it appears his doctors seem to be suggesting, or sources seem to be suggesting at least, that things are going in the right direction.

"So I think it's looking positive as we go towards the summer."

Princess Kate issued an emotional video statement on her cancer earlier this year, in which she revealed to the world that she has begun "preventative chemotherapy".

The diagnosis occurred after her planned abdominal surgery in January, as doctors discovered that cancer "had been present" at the time of the operation.
